I don’t know if you’ve noticed it yourself, but Phooneybaum has changed quite a lot lately. Once he was a voice of reason, the man responsible for keeping Bastidius from acting on his not always brilliant notions and practically some sort of Straight Man. Now, he steals from the poor, feels no regret after his former bride gets brutally murdered (because of his own greed, no less) and his grasp on reality is getting weaker and weaker. Any moment now, Phooneybaum is going to snap. And I love it, who needs ethics and morals anyway.
